WHITE CHOCOLATE-COVERED POPCORN

Makes about 8 cups

 Package this candy-popcorn treat in a clear cellophane bag tied with a colorful ribbon. 

8 cups popped popcorn
2 cups good-quality white chocolate chips
Red sugar
 

Spread popcorn on a baking sheet.

PER 1/2 CUP: 129 calories; 2 g protein; 16 g carbohydrates; 1 g fiber; 7 g fat (4 g saturated); 7 mg cholesterol; 22 mg sodium




Place chocolate in a glass bowl atop a pot of barely simmering water (do not let the bowl touch the water). Melt over low heat, stirring until smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in the microwave on 50 percent power for about 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds.

Drizzle chocolate over popcorn. Using a rubber spatula, gently stir to coat the popcorn with the chocolate. Sprinkle with red sugar. Let stand until chocolate dries.
